Antique Art Deco Platinum Old European Diamond & Sapphire Filagree Bow Brooch

Antique Art Deco Platinum Old European Diamond & Sapphire Filagree Bow Brooch

$4,200.00Price

An exquisite original Art Deco bow brooch, circa 1920s–1930s, beautifully crafted in platinum with intricate openwork filigree, delicate milgrain detailing, and graceful ribbon-like curves. The brooch is adorned with approximately 2.50 carats total weight of original old European and old mine cut diamonds, ranging G–I in color and VS1–SI1 in clarity. Accenting the flowing contours of the bow are approximately 1.40 carats total weight of natural royal blue sapphires, fashioned in square cuts and channel-set along the folded edges of the ribbon. The vivid blue sapphires provide a beautiful contrast against the brilliance of the antique diamonds, while the finely executed platinum openwork reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of the Art Deco period. All components are original to the brooch, with the sole exception of the closing portion of the pin mechanism, which is a later replacement stamped 14K. Elegant, feminine, and remarkably detailed, this is a wonderful surviving example of early 20th-century jewelry design.
